Other Doula

Services

  • Welcoming a new baby is a big transition for the whole family, especially for older siblings. My sibling doula support is designed to provide calm, consistent, and loving care for your child while you’re focused on the birth of your baby.

    What Is a Sibling Doula?

A sibling doula provides on-call, in-home care for your child(ren) during labor, birth, and the early postpartum period. Rather than being rushed to a sitter or staying with someone unfamiliar, your child remains in their own home, following their usual routines, with support from a trained doula who understands birth, family transitions, and young children.

    What Support Looks Like

    • On-call availability as you approach your due date

    • Care in your home when you leave for the hospital or birth center

    • Support with meals, bedtime, overnight care, play, and comfort

    • Following your child’s existing routines as closely as possible

    • Age-appropriate conversation and reassurance about the birth and new baby

    • Flexibility for longer labours or unexpected changes

    Before the Birth

Before the on-call period begins, we’ll schedule a prenatal meeting in your home so I can get to know your family and your child. We’ll review routines, preferences, emergency contacts, and your hopes for sibling support so you can leave for your birth feeling confident and prepared.

    During the Birth

When labor begins, I’ll come to your home and provide attentive, responsive care for your child for the duration of your time away. My goal is to create a steady, reassuring presence so your child feels safe, supported, and connected while you’re welcoming your new baby.

    After You’re Home

Sibling support can also be added for a gentle transition support once you return, helping your child adjust to your baby’s arrival in a loving, age-appropriate way. Extra support is available if needed.
